Hey guys, my truck has decided it doesn't want to start lately. Over the winter I replaced the starter and the positive battery cable because they were both pretty worn out. I also had the battery tested and it checked out, that's when I got the new cable. It ran well for a while, but now when I turn the key I get nothing, no lights in the dash or radio at all, not even a click. When I hook up my battery charger, it doesn't move the needle to charge and I get a strange noise from under the hood, close to the firewall, at least that's where it seems to come from. Any ideas?
I don't have a wiring diagram handy but if I recall battery power from the starter relay goes through the safety to the switch, so no I don't think you'd get any accessory power. I could be totally wrong here; just goin off the top of my head.
Have to measure it and check for voltage. It was a rough winter many places, if it sat for a long time a dead battery will freeze. Then it will no longer hold a charge. Check charging voltage from alternator.
Is the neutral safety hooked up and working properly?

Have you checked all your connections? Starter, solenoid, battery connections? If they are universal connections at the battery take the apart and manually clean them. Check your grounds and make sure there is no rust or paint at these points. Make sure you have frame, body and engine grounded properly. Check your harness to see if you have a short. You can also move the wires on the firewall in your no start mode to see if the power comes back on.

Your truck has the Ford type 3.03 3 speed manual.
The truck *had* a 3 speed manual, but at some point in its life it was converted to a C4 automatic, although it still has its original 352 V8. I can assure you it only starts when it's in park, don't ask me how I know or how long I freaked out one day when the shifter was bumped.
