I haven't watched Westworld, although my son works on that show. He says it's crazy filming. As a driver, he's working 80-90 hrs a week, many days having just an 8 hour turnaround, including weekends.
It must be one heck of show for HBO.
Jennings was 74 days iirc. If this keeps up, they will have to find a "solution". If this guy can't be beat, why would you go on Jeopardy? Some of the challengers would have done quite will in a "normal" $20-30,000 game.
For the moment I would guess the smart money is to just keep going. Someone was close to popping him last week. All he needs is to bomb a daily double and the final and he's done.
BRAIN DEAD IDIOT THEORY: What would happen if it turns out someone is feeding him questions? I would think they have a pretty tight system there, but hey, it's something to throw out there to infuriate some and start rumors elsewhere. I'm just trying to make a difference!

This has all the elements of a good conspiracy. Alex becomes ill. Wants to pad his bequeath to his heirs. Hires a ringer with a unique style and feeds him the answers. The crowd goes wild, ratings soar, earnings soar, Alex and James reach respective ends of their trails.
Great story. Nonsense, but that shouldn't harm the tale.
I hope they’re screening other contestants well. He blows by the competition so quickly, I lose interest in watching. Eventually the ratings drop off and yet the payout continues.
in the meantime, we’re really enjoying Chernobyl on HBO, quite riveting. Acting is top notch.
I think he committed Jeopardy suicide. A timid wager today, for no good reason.
Oh well.....
His wager was explained. He knew the woman in the lead would wager just enough to beat him, so his only chance was if she answered incorrectly. So he wagered just enough so that if she won, he could not be less than second place. Or said another way, if she answered incorrectly he could not lose.
But I understand your thoughts about throwing the game. It smells fishy. He was timid throughout, going long periods without controlling the board. Which meant he only got one of the DD, and that was the opening answer where there wasn't much to be made.
I understand it, but I don't believe it. I just see a night where the topics were not with him. Or maybe he is mentally tiring of the whole thing. That has to be a struggle. He didn't have a single wrong answer, nor did the winning lady, and in fact there was only one wrong answer in the whole game. Happened to be a question that even I guessed at the right answer. I thought it odd that none of them could guess that, but then, winners of Jeopardy do not guess. Losers guess.
The turning point in that game was the second DD, when the lady went all in. James never recovered from that. Gotta give her credit. Now I think I will have to watch to see if she is a one-win-wonder.
Even though he didn't break the $$ record, to me he is the best player they've ever had. His mastery of the button, his wagering skill, and obviously his trivia knowledge, we shall not see his like again.
