12v location

Hello folks, first-time poster here. I drive a 2018 Ford F-350 and love every bit of it!

I have added accessories such as lights, winch, on-board air, etc to up-fitter switches or directly to the battery.

This week I will install a UnityUSA spotlight on both sides.

So here is my ignorant question: is there a location inside the cab on both sides where I can steal the 12v? Or am I just going to have to go directly to the battery on either side? Havn't had this situation in my other installs.

Thank you so much!

- Will

This bulletin may be helpful if you have upfitter switches:

I appreciate that, but I would like to avoid using the up-fitters since the lights themselves have a switch on the handle.

if not interested in the above, I’d recommend an add-a-fuse at the passenger kick panel. Easy access and you can get always on or other ignition states depending on what you grab.

I see. Never done that before. I looked at the panel and did not see any open spots.

I could be wrong but I believe the up-fitters are ignition-dependent. I suppose an in-line fuse to the battery is the simplest, but maybe not easiest option.

Now I see what you mean, found some add a fuse supplies online. Thanks! That solves the passenger side. Will be an easy run.

Move on past the upfitter switches. Check circuits CB111 and SB106.

Alternately, upfitter switches 5 and 6 can easily be configured for “always hot”

So "Customer Access" is just a hot wire to use located near the up-fitter wires? Seems straight forward. Thank you sir!

Yes; SB106 is always hot and is protected by a 20A fuse. CB111 (also a 20 A fuse) is controlled by the ignition status (hot on START or RUN).

HTH, and best of luck!
