07 fx4 5.4 3v
Came phaser and timing shot at 90,000 is it worth it to have fixed with all the updates or would I be better off putting in a new motor at 7,300.00 dollars which seems like a high price for remanufactured and install and how often do you get bad motors from Fraser

That would depend on how your engine looks on the inside is it sludged up any other noises has it been properly maintained pull a couple of cam caps and check for scoring if they are scored you would be better off replacing the engine if you intend on keeping the truck for the long term haven't used Fraser engines so can't comment on those maybe try Google?

$7300!!!???? Holy cow! Whoever is installing that motor for you is ripping you off!.
I have a reman'd Fraser in mine and I am EXTREMELY happy with it. The motor cost me $3300 + $450 core (included "install kit and extended warranty). The install cost me $1600 (and I replaced just about EVERYTHING!).

BTW, just about ALL remanufactured engines are actually reman'd by a company called AER Engines out of Texas (Fraser, Powertrain, Jasper and even OEM's like GM and Ford). The difference between each seller is their customer service and warranty coverage/service.

With only 90,000 miles, if it hasn't been beaten all its life, I'd just fix it.
