I'm currently driving a 2016 F-350 XL Diesel with power group option added(power windows, locks, etc.) but my tow mirrors are only power adjust and heated. I wanted to know if it is possible to upgrade this truck to equip tow mirrors that are also power folding and telescoping. If so, any info on parts I would need to make this upgrade. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks, Tom
Probably not an easy task. If the wiring is in the doors and in the dash, maybe you could. But highly doubt you have the wiring from side to side or in the doors.
Thanks for the reply Larry. I was hoping it was one of those things where they wire the truck for all options and just hook up what the truck is equipped with(e.g. truck did not come with fog lights but all the wiring was in place and all I needed to do is buy a fog light kit which included new switch and sensor for auto lights. Reflash BCM, plug and play).
Seth, yes, the foglight was easy as Ford did sell a kit to add foglights to the XL/XLT trucks on the Ford Accessory site. The wiring might be there but I highly doubt in for the mirrors.
You could check the door plugs to see if there are pins or wires shown above or on this drawing.
Mine has the same mirrors you have. Power adjust for the upper flat mirror, and selectable heat for the upper flat mirror, manual extend and manual fold.
Those are the best mirror choice, and no way would I look at power fold and power extend. Those are garbage. The internal gears that make all that happen are plastic. There's only 2 kinds of power fold/extend mirrors, those that are broken (the gears strip), and those that are going to break. And they are major bucks to replace each time they break.
I wouldn't have them on my truck if they were free.
Feel as you will and desire....but I wouldn't trade my power mirrors for manuals ever.....Mine are 5 years old and going strong...no problems what so ever and they get folded frequently....

This source makes relatively inexpensive brass replacement gears for the towing mirrors if the plastic gears should happen to fail.
