Adding Max Tow Mirrors

Hello all,

I have a 2014 F150 with the standard mirrors. I bought a set of oem Max Tow mirrors from a Ford dealer. When I install them will the puddle light work, or is there extra wiring necessary for that to work?

IIRC extra wiring is needed to be run for the puddle lights. There are install videos on youtube.

I added the ones from the Accessory catalog and the puddle light works (My truck did not have the puddle lights from the factory).

Adding Max Tow Mirrors

I installed oem tow mirrors, puddle lights worked. No extra wiring. My truck did not have puddle lights prior.

Alright, what are puddle lights? And I assume those tow mirrors can't work with an existing power fold option?

Puddle lights are the lights on the bottom of the mirrors, they illuminate the ground when you open your doors, or lock/unlock the doors.

As for power fold. I believe you can get tow mirrors with power fold. If you have those and your small mirrors also had power fold then when you make the switch the new ones will work too.

Thanks, I'll look into the tow mirrors. I just had to go out to my truck and look at my mirrors. I didn't even know about the puddle lights.

Dragging this back from the dead.............

Does your truck have heated mirrors?

My 2013 has heated mirrors and signals in the mirrors as well. I'm hoping I can add these mirrors from Ford. Just plug and play. Could care less if the puddle lights work really. Just need the turn signals and heat to work is all.

Anybody know for sure if these are a true plug and play for my truck that has only heated and signal mirrors?

I have a 2013 with the same mirror options. They are "plug and play". All the wires were already in the door harness when I added puddle lights to my non tow mirrors. If I ever decide to go to the tow mirrors, all I have to do is swap them.

Yes sir....it had the heated mirrors from factory. I retained all factory options (power adjust, heat and turn signals) and gained the puddle lights.

The only thing that I did not have was power fold, but as you know the Ford accessory version of this mirror does not permit this function, so it was a non issue for me.

Adding max tow mirrors

All the issues re: heated, auto dimming, power fold, puddle lights, etc. notwithstanding, be advised that adding the max tow mirrors in place of the standard mirrors will create a noticeable increase in wind noise.

These things are BIG.!

I added the tow mirrors on my 2013 XLT about six months ago. Bought a set of used OEM. Very pleased with the increase in visibility but was quite surprised at the increase in wind noise just outside of the windows.

Not objectionable but an increase nonetheless. These things are about as aerodynamic as a barn door.

Just an FYI.
