Using GM Headlight switch

Has anyone used a GM headlight switch with the factory ford bezel and ****? I know the bezel and switch are two different sizes so I'm thinking a heli-coil would solve that issue but a GM **** is triangle and the Ford round with flat side. Can I modify the switch opening or the **** to match the other? Is the Ford **** the correct length?

I'm trying to retain the stock look of the dash

Hi Scott,
What truck are you working on? Your profile says 2008 F-250.
Maybe put the truck you're working on in your signature, or both.

Why not just buy a FORD switch? They are readily available in the aftermarket.

I am rewiring the truck with a universal wiring harness that comes with a GM headlight plug already wired. Believe me I'd rather not install a GM part in my truck 😉 but it would save me time and not having to cut up the new harness

I normally use the GM switch with the Ford **** epoxied to the GM switch rod. I havent done it but I am sure you could epoxy the Ford bezel to the threaded part of the GM switch nut.

Using the original switch while cutting up a new harness actually isnt that bad.
Transfer the effort of making a GM switch to cutting the harness.....

The stock/OEM headlight switch uses spade connections and is easy to install. I had a similar discussion with one of my truck buddies regarding the use of the "GM harness connector"...the point I made was "how often do you remove the headlight switch?" and how much "convenience" are you really gaining? Next thing to consider is, will the GM switch fit into your dash? I am working on a 40 Ford right now and have the same harness and found that the GM switch was way to bulky to fit in the dash. My 40 now has an F100 headlight switch.

Good about having room. I think there is plenty but I'll check. I still have the original factory switch that was on the truck new and it have screw connectors and not spades. Looks the new ones have both from your picture. I guess I have some thinking to do 😝
