Headlight **** fiasco,

the headlight switch **** on my 2002 Expedition broken internally, that is to say it will not stay on the post.
I am told by 2 different dealers that the only way it can be replaced is by replacing the ENTIRE switch assembly, @ $$$$.
I found by accident this evening that it will remain on the post if it is placed on up side down, and the switch works perfectly fine. Short of wandering from junk yard to junk yard is there a place where one can buy this simple plastic generic ****.
TIA DrPhil

Didi you look at the switch? Is it just the **** that is broken? If Ford won't sell you just the **** you might want to go to the junker, if they are "good guys" they'll give ya the **** or sell you the whole switch alot cheaper than Ford.................

yep.....just the **** is broken .....dealers reply is essentially tough ****. As far bas I'm concerned it will be a COLD DAY IN HELL before I EVER do business with CONWAY-HEATON FORD in Bardstown Ky.
Seems Ford is always saying , customers are job one, NOT at this dealership !!!!!!!

fordpartsnetwork.com sells a complete switch for $59.32

http://www.parts.com/partlocator/ind...02&catalogid=1

If the link doesn't work it's under mechanical -> electrical -> chassies electrical -> switches -> headlamp switches

thankyou for the web site. The price for the 2000 switch was 42.50, but that still seems a high price to pay when all I need is a ****.
Ford Motor should be able to provide a replacement for a breakable plastic part, that is used daily. Or of course the alternative , design it to with stand daily use in the first place!!!!

Oh, come on now. How do you think the make all their money? Seriously though, don't blame your dealer for this, it is a Ford (or supply) problem. They are doing what they can to make a buck. Not only that but, they don't have to make the electrical end of it to hold up any more if they know the plastic part will break first.

I do BLAME the dealer, ( note I said "the" not "my", since they will never be again), All he needs to do is pull the **** from the $70+ replacement switch, and sell it to me. take my switch and tell FoMoCo they received it broken. Heck they could just eat part of the switch cost, put it in inventory for when someones switch fails. If I can buy th switch assembly for $42.50, you know they can get it for thirty. So sell me a **** for $15, esp. with out all the hassel, and I think they are heros, and would look there for my next vehical. But NO, not Conway-Heaton, no, no ,no, !!!
For an industry that is crying over not enough sales to not be willing to bend for a past and formerly future customer is nothing but arrogance !!!!
