Has anyone upgraded the 150 Watt 110 volt AC power point to the newer 400 watt one; Is it possible ? I would like to increase the amperage at idle to recharge a cordless drill battery while doing chores at camp. Since the 150 is producing less than 1 amp at idle so its no use for that.. Hate to buy a generator just to use a few hours a year. Appreciate any thoughts on the matter.
What about a 12v power inverter? They have a range of wattages and they're pretty low priced if you don't need anything over 1000W. Plus they're portable.
My buddy had mentioned getting but i was just thinking if i could upgrade the one in the truck it would be handier. So i guess i can get a portable one cheaper than upgrading. Can they be hard wired into the truck ?

I have 5000 Watt inverter in my Work Van that will run off a Deep Cycle Battery and it is hard wired in.
Sounds like an outside inverter is a better solution or go with a small generator . My nephew thinks i should buy one of the Honda 2200 s , probably so he can borrow it
I would mount it under the hood on fender well or something.. Ground the negative and have an alligator clip on the positive side... When your parked, just clip to the positive battery post and you get 120 v out of the box..... Don't need a key in the ignition or anything extra. Set your battery charger on the radiator guard and leave the hood open.
i`m thinking I might mount it in the bed near the tailgate, since it has an off/ on switch i can hard wire it to the battery and have battery chargers or anything else sit on the tailgate.
I bought one of thos 140w Dewalt inverters from Home Depot. Plugs into cigarette lighter. It will charge Dewalt and Hilti 20v batteries. Wont run the Makita charger for some reason (not mine anyway). Also use it to print out estimates at customers home. Works out great. Just throw batteries on while Im driving around.
Thanks for the suggestion Since that is almost the same as what is in the truck now it works great when driving . But at idle or just using the battery are you getting 140 watts out of it? The built in one is 110V -140 watt but at idle or just using the battery i`m not getting enough power.
I actually have no idea, I usually can be proactive and charge one battery while I am driving and be fine. Dont use cordless tools alot in my line of work (caulking) and a battery can usually last two days. I know it definitely will run the printer when I am sitting their at idle, thats how I give out my estimates.
I am going to go start my truck, throw a dewalt on the charger and see if it works. I will update in about 20min
