Is this why my pump "whines"? Does it need to be replaced with the Saginaw?

Sourced a pump, lines, and bracket from a 96 Econoline this past weekend at a salvage yard that is a little proud of thier stuff at 100 bucks plus cash out the door. Pulled myself, 10MM socket, 14MM socket, and a 5/8" line wrench were needed, no drilling of my AC compressors mounting holes was required, fasteners were the same. I like the simplicity of this repair as to trying to replace my existing/leaking OEM pump, didn't need to mess with pulling the pulley. Going to go ahead and get the smog pump delete bracket and locate a 3G alternator before changing the belt. It's a bit tight for now, my existing belt is smaller than OEM because the "85 amp" ac-delco alternator I foolishly squandered for before learning about 3Gs had a smaller pulley. My 92 has forward facing ears for mounting the alternator so it looks to me like I need an alternator from a V6 mustang. I had heard the hype about how quiet these sagniaws are and am not disappointed, but I am blown away by the extra pressure/power. My grandmother could turn the wheel easily from right to left in park to bleed the steering one handed. I stuck with ATF-Type F fluid.

Crazy Ray's / LKQ? I've never been (too far), but heard they've gotten worse since being acquired.
