Overheating! Ignition Module??
Greetings,
My 1988 F-150 351W is overheating. The following parts are under warranty so I replaced them to no avail: Thermostat, Water Pump, radiator cap. I have also chemical flushed the system and put in new fluid. My only other thought is that the engine timing is incorrect, which would mean a faulty Ignition Control Module, right?

Overheating! Ignition Module??
I've never seen a failing ignition module cause an overheating problem.
Look at the rest of the cooling system first. Is the front of the radiator covered with bugs/leaves/debris? Is the fan clutch engaging when the engine warms up?
If the cooling system is indeed ok, check the ignition timing. It should be 10 degrees BTDC with the SPOUT connector removed.
If both the cooling system and the ignition timing are ok, check for a restricted exhaust system (clogged cat, collapsed pipe, etc.)
Let us know what you find.

Overheating! Ignition Module??
You didn't slip a piece of cardboard in the grill last winter did you? Maybe a former owner? If it's between the air conditioning unit and the radiator you might not be able to see it unless you pull off a rubber seal on the top side which just directs air flow thru the radiator and look down in between.
