My original carb is stuck even after going in the oven. I want to buy a used one off ebay to rebuild. However, i search 8ba truck carb. There are different numbers, for example (94)....what carb do i need to get? 1949 m47 truck 8ba
thanks
john
The important thing to look for is that it is a Ford model Holley 94. Only the Ford models have the Loadamatic porting for the distributor. Other vehicles used Holley 94s but without the Loadamatic provisions. Look for a 7RT or 8RT casting mark, although an 8BA will also work.
Be careful when you buy a used one. Look at the top of the air horn where the air cleaner attaches. Make sure you have the correct carb/air cleaner combination
The correct truck carb and matching air cleaner have a unique mounting surface at the top of the air horn compared to the car versions. It's a more positive gripping system, presumably for the higher vibrations one might see in a truck application. Because of this, the shiny aftermarket air cleaners the vendors sell for flattys won't work on truck carbs. They're made to slip over the flatter sides of the air horn on the car carbs.

Here's an original truck air cleaner on ebay, although imho his price tag is a bit steep. These typically sell for under $50.
