2 days ago I attempted to install the latest M/S updates to my Win 7 desktop. Upon the required reboot the computer stalled at 51% and stayed there. Anyone else have this (or close) problem?
I got me running again by using the SYSTEM RESTORE to an earlier date and everything is fine. I ran the M/S troubleshooter and it found and corrected 2 "problems". Re ran the update and it did the same stall. I again reverted to a date prior to this update. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if you found an answer to correct it.
two weeks ago 7 did an auto update and did the same thing, stalled at 51%
then shut down and would not reboot. i had to upgrade to win 10 because 7 suffered a fatal error and would not reload.
(i think it was microsofts way to force the 10 upgrade.)
anyway i am now running 10 with auto updates turned off so it will not happen again.
turn EVERYTHING off and set updates for manual. . then set the computer for limited service, and it will think you are on dialup and will not do auto updates.
then download classic shell, and it will make the computer displays look like a win XP machine,
I fixed everything by resetting for my Win7 to NOT do updates. After a reboot I went to MicroSoft 's web site to manually download the update KB #'s I needed and everything loaded just fine. Oh, to do that you HAVE to use IE browser.
