in the past with the excursion I would put the keys in the console and lock the truck without worry. On the new truck with smart key is there any worry of someone smashing the glass and then just pushing the start button with the fob in the console?

I assume the proximity alarm would trigger and prevent engine operation but I don't really know.
I would want some clarification on this as well. Just seems to easy to have your truck stolen and the door handle is a 10 second defeat with the right tools based on what I've read so they wouldn't even need to smash a window.
I'll be honest I'm shocked Ford designed a door handle so easily defeated with all of today's technology. Hopefully they will update that soon if they haven't already.

With keyless entry , I would hide the key in a RFID container, that way the signal would be blocked and the truck won't know there is a key inside

You can set your own code too , makes it way easier to remember. I also have another code for other people so that I don't have to give them my own

Thats an excellent idea. I really had a hard time with the idea of leaving the RFID key inside when the door is so easy to break open.

Is there a button at the keypad that does that?

Yeah, put your code in and then hit 5. Hitting 3 unlocks all of the doors too.

So the RFID container is in center console ? You put a spare key in that a lot and use key pad to get in. And with that key inside the rfid holder you start and drive the truck ?

I have never had a key pad on any of my trucks so I’m just trying to understand it

Wife and I went off-road rock picking in our 2013, it had the keypad, she locked the doors thinking I had the keys, but I had left them in the console, so in the middle of inaccessible-nowhere we managed to lock the keys in the truck, I’d never used the keypad feature except when I first got the truck and put in my own code. Somehow 3 years later I managed to remember the code which for me is highly unusual.... Sure saved my butt that day.
