I will be replacing my I6 engine with a remanufactured engine through Orielly Auto Parts. There are 2 engine options. One with smog holes and one without. The one with the smog holes is $215 cheaper. I dont think my original engine had the smog setup and im curious how hard it is to just plug the holes in the new remanufactured engine?
The one with smog holes may be lower compression. I don't know but I'd verify it first.
I'd really consider rebuilding your own engine. you wouldn't save any money but the cheap rebuilts are the lowest quality parts and normally $1 an hour labor puts them together in Mexico. or if you're lucky $8 an hour in the US. .I guess they work for a while but I'd run from them personally.
