F550 rear end problems

Hello everybody, just wondering if anybody has had rear diff problems with there F550s? My 2013 has a leaky pinion seal. I went to change it this afternoon and found my pinion bearings were toast. The pinion moves up, down and in and out. It’s going in next week to get new bearings but just wondered if this is a common problem or what? Has 220 000kms on it and has has the oil changed with synthetic 75-140 more than a few times. Think it’s a Dana 110 diff. Thanks in advance

How long's it been leaking, sounds like it got low on oil.
Hopefully it hasn't messed up the gears.
Why has the oil been changed more than a few times in only 220,00 kms, Dana's recommended change interval with synthetic 75-140 is 288,000 kms

Don’t think it’s been leaking to to long. Just replaced the shocks maybe 2000 Kms ago and it was not leaking then and the level is still up. I like to keep up on fluid changes. Just makes me feel like I’m taking good care of things. Lol

We changed the gear ratio in mine at 160000 kms which was also first oil change.
Only 40000 kms since so won't be getting the oil changed for some time.
FYI the pinion nut torques on at 625 lb ft of torque, also the 3rd member will have to be removed to replace the back pinion bearing, that 3rd member weighs around 150 lbs

Just wanted to follow up on this thread. I got the bearings replaced and the gears were ok still. He said the bearings weren’t all chewed up but just worn out. Guess they only last around 220 000kms. Doesn’t seem like a lot but it sees some pretty harsh conditions. Including lots of cold weather use, muddy lease roads and the truck weighs over 14000lbs. And also it’s tuned and deleted so I’m thinking that puts lots of extra stress on things. Glad it’s fixed up anyways.

Should have lasted longer, pulled one out of a donor truck with 300k+ miles in good condition.
Former utility company bucket truck, they go into some rough places.

Glad you got it fixed
Thanks for posting back.
