I installed a MSD coil in my 1994 F150 with a 302. The first four days it ran great, even 1 mpg better, but then with the cruise set at 65 I got a big studder in the motor. It shook for about a minute and then cleared up. Over the next three weeks it started to do it more often until the motor died completely but started right up again.
I put a new cap and rotor on because it seemed to be worse when it was raining, but it didn't help. Finally I pulled the MSD off and put the Ford coil back on but, you guested it, it still does it. Could the ignition system be damaged? Computer? Thanks....Darrin
Unlikely the coil did it. I would look at the connector to the coil, it is a weak point in the system, also one day your truck may just die, and that will probably be the ignition module.
You obviously are experiencing no ignition (miss) so inspect all the parts associated with the igntion system.
ckeck all your wires coming from the distributer ,, the modual ,, and the coil ,, you likely have a frayed wire ,, some elctrode greese wouldnt be a bad thought either ,,,
