gas cap

I don't understand why they isn't a small sleeve on the little door to put your gas cap on. My cap is attached to a line of plastic and the only place to put it when gassing up is to let it lie against the side of the truck. Maybe I'm being picky, but most cars and trucks seem to have this option. I thought about cutting the plastic cord, but haven't brought myself to do it yet.

Yeah I know what your saying. My Chevy had a little hook on the inside of the gas cap door to hang the cord on.

How about putting a little strip of those "stick-on" magnets (like you find in a craft shop) on the back of the cap? Not sure if it would be strong enough to stick to the inside of the little door, but worth the few cents to try.

I guess the Ford engineers got confused and put the hook on the dash instead of the gas door!

I still haven't used that hook on the dash and don't think I ever will. Good idea on the magnet stick on for the gas door. I might try that or a stick on hook.

For me, the dash hook is perfect for my cell-phone holder. It's not in the way of anything or anyone, and it's never fallen off during ay type of my driving!

You could setup a strip of velcro on the outside of the gas cap and the inside of the fuel door too.

No need to cut it - just pry the cap out of the ring of plastic it is encircled in. Then stuff the ring out of the way behind the filler neck. I did this on my 2000 the first time I filled up.

During fillups my cap sits on the bedrail - sometimes I ram it between the pump handle if it doesn't have a working latch to keep it pumping without holding it.

Hope this makes sense. Keith.

Had the same issue first time I filled up. My solution was to put the cap in the space to the left of the filler tube opening and slightly behind the filler door hinge. It's a little cramped but it works for me. No velcro or other mod required.

As I have not filled up my new truck yet, 04' F-350 V-10, when I was looking at it, at the Dealer I did try Powerstoke_wannabe's Idea and it seemed to work fine, place it to the upper left side of the filler neck, and it stayed there,,HMMM,, sounds good to me, just my thoughts on this,,,,!

Now 10 burnin- 6 turnin,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Later,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Mark

OK enough about the infamous gas cap. I hope that this is the biggest problem that you are ever faced with.

Thanks for your reply shorebird. It was very helpful? It seems to me that's it's real easy to bypass topics that aren't of interest to you.
