Gas Cap retainer strap
Gas Cap retainer strap
My gas cap retaining strap is a bit stiff and the grommet that attaches the strap to the truck bed has left town, liberating the cap for ease of loss.
Does anyone have a better solution to replace this design? I still have the cap with the hard plastic leash.

I ripped mine out and put this one on it's great no attachement and you don't have to unscrew to fillup, here it the website, I beleive they are in most stores now under $20

does that cap actually seal like the OEM one, i would think if you dont have to unscrew you are more likely prone for an EVAP system leak and dreaded MIL??? Im an engine performance tech, only reason im asking....
I had same concerns too, however, I figured I would try it, it screws on and is tight no vapor leaks or engine light codes indicated, the flap that you put the fuel nozel through when filling up closes after your done and has a rubber seal. On the web site I provided about they also link to directions, it an option for you to try if you don't like then just put the olfd one back on : regards
5k, yeah I love not having to unscrew the cap or have it dangle on the body of the truck especialy ater waxing, give it a try won't hurt and if you don't like it through it out and put the old one on, I saved my old one, I scanned internet and didn't find any warnings or problems with it, heck this is the type nascar use (probalby not same) but same idea, regards
