INJECTOR REPLACEMENT!
I have a 2003 250 6.0. it is in need of injectors I know a little about 6.0 I know they are a HEUI system. I am familiar with the 7.3 my question is what all needs done while I'm there under the rocker cover. injectors and glow plugs are a definite. but I know there are some upgrades I can do not sure really what they are though something to make it the newer style. I'm just trying to get some information on the subject and pre plan my attack.
symptoms are runs rough misses hard starting when cold, it also hesitates a lot when you step on it seems to take a while to get going. when your cursing through town at about 35 mph its kinda jerky until its been running a while and warmed up really good then its not too bad. what's peoples thoughts. and also brand of injectors. I'm not looking for any performance. its is for a command vehicle for a fire department.

IMO there isn't much to do on the 03's under the valve covers. You should be able to get OEM reman's for around $190 each. Try FICMrepair.com or Auto Nation White Bear Lake.
You can get new injectors made by Pure Power. They seem to be getting good reviews.
I would think that glow plugs would be wise to change. I am not sure how reliable the glow plug bus bars are, but it doesn't seem like they are a particularly weak component.
You might look to see if oil is leaking anywhere. Probably a good idea to install a new ICP sensor and make sure that the connector is in good shape.
The HPOP on the 03's and 04's is the big disappointment IMO. Yours sounds like it isn't an issue, so it would probably be hard to drop the bucks for an upgrade at this point.

As Mark said, these early HPOP's are not the greatest thing.
I won't speak for him but I would tell you, if there is any extra money in what I am sure is a tight budget for this fire dept, see if you can get a good HPOP installed while things are partially apart.
No, it's not imperative, but early build HPOP's will give out with no warning.
We had an early 04 Ambulance chassis on the dept I used to serve on, and it gave up the ghost at the worst time possible in the middle of cardiac run.
I do realize this is not an Ambulance, so that does make a difference
