Started to look at the motor and found it has a edelbrock streetmaster manifold. In research I found this is an older edelbrock designed for emission motors. I think I want to change this to either an edelbrock performer or weiand stealth. In lots more research reviews on both manifolds are all over the board. With about $100.00 or more difference I was leaning on a stealth, any thoughts? Mainly street driving, not for a racing rig.
I run a weiand stealth on my 460, I haven't noticed a difference but I also have a 30 year old original engine with a lot of blow by and no valve seals so, maybe on a rebuilt it would have done more.
The Edelbrock RPM Air Gap is probably the best all around intake out there but it isn't cheep. A Weiand 8012 is priced a little more reasonable and is a good manifold too.
Studies have shown that the OEM manifold is better than the aftermarket ones. It's a dual plane with large runners and it doesn't jack the carb 6" into the air.
I run the stock one in my truck and it breathes fine.
For a daily. I'd go with the Performer, no need for the RPM or air-gap series unless you're going to invest in other upgrades to the engine besides a good flowing exhaust. For carb sizing, there are plenty of calculators online to help with that, less is more in that respect.
Well if you can find one I have always ran stock d0oe,that's the scj intake heavy but makes great torque! As long as you don't port match them they work great. You have to run these gaskets with them. If you do port match you will get lot's of top end no bottom end ,A mistake I won't make again
