Intake manifold selection

Looking to replace my D4VEC1B intake manifold on a D1VE6015 460 block with D2VE-AA heads. Just started working on the truck ('68 F100, C6 tranny, 460 motor) and have read the D2VE intake is not the best choice. Has an Edelbrock 1407 on it. Need to replace the intake and exhaust gaskets anyway, as the truck sat for some time. Actually, I'm replacing all the gaskets because it hasn't been run regularly for a while. Anyway, which intake manifold do you guys think would be a good upgrade? Not planning on building a street rod, not concerned with fuel mileage, just want good solid performance with a minimum of future problems. Obviously, I don't wanna spend $1500 on an intake, but also don't wanna cheap out. As always, your help and opinions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Joe
PS Soon as I can find my camera and figure out how to upload pix I will.

Well, I guess it depends on what you plan on doing with it. Mostly a stock intake is more then adequate for a daily driver/plain jane. I don't have any real input for 460 motors, but I would think an Edelbrock Performer intake would be a decent thing to look at. The Performer RPM is a step up from that, RPM wise.

Is the motor stock? Cam? exhaust?

I would recommend a Edelbrock performer RPM. That will be good for what you are doing.

I would think a C8VE, C9VE or D0VE intake would be just fine. They are inexpensive (I have seen them for $50).

A word of advice...throw those D2VE-AA heads in the trash and use ANY other 429/460 head.

I was going to go there but he only asked about an intake. I would be looking for heads in the same range as the intake I suggested.
