The cool thing about the Bullet Proof Diesel mount is that is sits low and I park in a 7' tall garage opening still. Leaves me about an inch to spare. Hope to have the radio install finished tomorrow and make sure the tuning is good. Here is what I have for pics.

Thank you for the best install pictures ever on this product. Curious on your feedback for the reception and transmittance.

That, unfortunately, will be a couple weeks. I just ordered a President Andy cb, but they will need to tune and peak it before it gets sent out.

I can tell you the Larsen antenna that I am going to be using there should be awesome. I run a 75wx handheld cb in my Jeep and it has never worked as well as it does with the Larsen antenna.

bulletproofs website says not compatible with 3rd Brake Light Camera. Am I missing something or is yours a one off?

Yes, it does say that. I also called them and asked. They told me that some trimming of the light would be needed to make it fit. When I got ready to install it I slid it up in place and it fit perfectly. From there I put it up on the truck and connected the wiring, then slid it back into place again to make sure it all fit. After that I ran the coax in, drilled the 2 holes needed and mounted it all in place.....mine worked, yours may need trimming but it should fit.

If you look where the antenna cap is that's where the interference would/will be. Mine did have some clearance issues there, but instead of trimming the 300 light I decided to just add a little clear RTV to the back side of the light. My thought is try that first and if it leaks Ill take it apart and remove the RTV and trim the lamp slightly. I have a dually so it wont see any automatic car washes anyhow. Ill try and get a few pictures of mine as well since I have a white truck and you can really see the way the mount works.

So I got my radio installed today. Running a President Andy, it’s been peaked and tuned. Deadkey at 5w and swings to 33w, was really happy that I got the SWR set to 1.3. Seems to reach out alright, did a couple radio checks.

Following, I see where poor ground plane is a factor and people posting their radios. I saw a post about a firestik antenna being mounted but did not see an answer. On my old truck I had a 4' firestick mounted on the front bumper and it worked fairly well. I put it all away after reading the trouble people were having with the aluminum body. What is the chance of this large antenna working well on the front as it did on my 2005 Super Duty? I m trying to avoid running the wire only to find it is not useful. I don't use it often but we are planning some long trips and miss the information it can provide. I do like the small radios available and the price seems very reasonable for a once in a while use. Thanks for any insight. I am no radio man but do like information while driving.

A good ground plane is an RF reflective surface...it does not need to be magnetic, nor metallic, just RF reflective. So an Al ground plane for RF works fine. The big problem with the Al is that you cannot use a mag mount antenna base.

Mounting an RF radiating dipole antenna with no ground plane reduces its effectiveness, but does not nullify it. So mounting a firestick on the bumper works...it just doesnt work as well as it might with a good ground plane. Get the SWRs down low (as close to 1:1 as possible) and drive on.

Mounted my Wilson 2000 in a Breedlove Stake Pocket mount, mounted my Uniden Pro20 on RAM MOUNT 1-1/2” hardware, a circular ball mount bolted to my XL/STX front ‘console’ removable cup holder, tucked cabling along the edge of my ‘rubber’ flooring, for now using the lower 12V power port, may add a microphone mount.

Have you checked your SWR with that stake pocket mount? That's what I was using and couldn't get my SWR readings anywhere acceptable, to the point my radio notified me my SWR was too high. And yes my stake mount was gounded to the chassis with a known good ground.

I have not, but did ground to chassis and re-installed the same antenna, same radio and new identical Wilson 18ft cable...dud a radio check with a base station with whom I have communicated and received a ‘good report’...

Radio checks unfortunately do little to detect SWR. SWR is a measure of the amount of your transmission that gets reflected back into your radio equipment, potentially frying it. You can get a 'good' report from a radio check, but still be damaging your radio. When I was running my CB-FM hideaway antenna unit, I had terrible SWR. Best I got it down to was like 1:1.75, but I was able to live with it because it was used for just receiving. As long as I didn't key up, I wasn't reflecting back into the radio. But even with that, I could have gotten a 'good' report if I had key'd up.

I will have to take the time to put the meter on it and see where it is then, thanks for the heads-up.
