My passenger side door lock switch keeps giving me trouble either won’t lock or won’t unlock. I have had it out several times to spray with contact cleaner. I would replace it but can’t find a reasonably priced one. I just don’t feel like shelling out $50 + bucks for a switch that not worth more then a couple of bucks. Any body have a more reasonably priced option.
If it doesn't have to be new, how about a salvage yard part, bet the price would be right if you pulled it.
If it has to be a new part, you can get a BWD one from Advance Auto for about $28 with this current 25% off code RMN25
WOOOOPS, looks like I didn't click on & blow up the part picture & it was for the danged Switch, not the right/passenger side lock solenoid. SO, try this one, https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...238/20973934-p, its $38.99 with the 25% off promo code.
If $39 is too much to swallow, you could try & open the solenoid & clean & maybe short out/across the varistor & see if that'll make it operate stronger. I fixed my wimpy operating 94 Taurus lock & power windows by opening & cleaning the driver & passenger switches contacts with a new dollar bill & some plastic safe non residual spray cleaner, like CRC MAF Sensor Spray Cleaner, several years ago & the door locks are still Robust when locking.
If the switches aren't the problem, there is a thread I believe on the Explorer forum about 10 years ago with photos, on how to open, clean & short out the varistor on the lock solenoid & window motors, that go bad & heats up, dropping voltage to the solenoid, or window motors & making them wimpy, or inoperable. Shorting out the varistor wakes them up. The varistor was put in to prevent kids from holding the switches down & overheating things, so if you don't have small kids, or grand kids to do that, consider disabling them.
More thoughts for consideration, let us know how it goes
Thanks Pawpaw. The switch on the arm rest is what I need pdl-233. The absolute cheapest I have found new for is $45.00 and that was a MC. I may go salvage route I don’t think there is a difference between drives side or pass side may get a passenger side don’t think they see as much use a s a drivers side.
Don't mean to hijack thread. I have my dad's 2000 Ranger supercab with power locks, windows and mirrors.
The power locks will not lock or unlock from either door. I can hear the solenoid try to move them but no go. Would that be bad solinoids on both doors? I will try to find the thread in explorer forum about shorting varirseter.

How do you expect people to help you when you don't mention what year is it?
Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent info, we are not mind readers.
as the switches are different from side to side, Im now suspecting you mean the door lock actuator. But im glad you found a reasonably priced option for your repair!
