AAAAAAAAAAND NO MORE RATTLE IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND FLOORBOARD / PEDALS! Dealership did not show a new part number for the upper fastener.... of course no bulk bolts in stock. Went to ace hardware and found an allen head bolt, and a stainless lock washer. Little blue lock tite for the threads. Ran home and installed it, and drove to work. Pulling out the driveway i immediately noticed that my steering was much smoother yet “tighter”. Off the bat i could tell it was GTG. So my advice to anyone having issues with a rattle feeling in the steering wheel and floor board, replace the lower intermediate shaft. Its cheap enough that its worth a shot.

I believe the needle bearings were bad in the old shaft. The bearings were notchy and i believe the rattle was the result of out of tolerance needle bearings. I had not realized how bad my steering had degraded, until i replced that shaft.

Cool. Make sure you report back. I will add that my local dealership still showed national backorder. You may need to try an online vender if you cant get it locally.

Do you have the 6.2gas or the 6.7D?

Looking at your pics the steering shaft looks like it's easily accessed, if I recall what my engine bay looks like I think there is a bunch of stuff that covers that area. Anyone with the diesel take a look at this yet?

My F250 6.7 was built on 10/17 and has the updated lower steering shaft from the factory. I found that the grommet going through the firewall has some minor slop.

Did you do something to fix it? Mine still has slop at the firewall, but every other 250 ive looked at has had some measurable movement to different degrees. Im so happy i figured out that my lower shaft was bad. I now enjoy driving my truck again.

At this point it looks like it's more trouble than it's worth. Replacement is really the only fix. When it get's annoying I'll be more motivated to do this. Right now I hardly feel it.

Hello, i have a similar problem my acceleration pedal i notice it when i have my steering wheel steering to the right as i am making a small curve. it’ll make all kinda pulsing vibration in my acceleration pedal like it’s connected to my shocks. I took it to the dealership and sure enough they didn’t feel jack **** as soon as i picked up my truck from the dealership and leaving i Felt all the vibration in my acceleration pedal. Is the lower shaft an ideal to fixing this?

Has anyone else replace the lower shaft on the 6.7? I'm seeing the part # as Shaft Assembly - Ford (HC3Z-3B676-C). Is this the "upgraded" shaft or the same POS OEM one? Thanks!

Just saw this thread while doing some searching.

On my 2018 6.7 I get this odd light feeling in the steering.
It feels like something is loose yet the steering wheel is not loose. I notice more so when going do a freeway that is less than perfect.
Tires are wearing perfect and the truck tracks perfect.
It feels like something is loose yet appears that nothing is loose.
I have all Fox 2.0 shocks and the Fox adjustable ATS.

78000 miles
