hello this is my first post, I’ve learned a lot from this site. I have a 1993 Ford F-250 7.3 idi 4x4 extended cab. Currently I’m getting code 62 the solinoid pack, accumulator, springs, valves, and tps have been replaced. I’m assuming tps is fine since I’m not getting a code for that. It is set to correct voltage. Trans shop replaced a broken wire going to the harness. The symptoms I’m getting are when I get up to highway speeds/ overdrive I get the code. No slip An fluids look good. I decided to do some digging around An look like the previous owner spliced a wire going to range sensor. So I decided to replace all the wires on the trans harness for piece of mind. I found a broken wire coming from the main harness the pcm I believe? Have yet to split those wires open yet looks like it goes to the fuse box then down to trans harness connecter i was wondering if anyone had any wiring diagrams from pcm to fuse box under the hood an so on. Sorry for the long post an appreciate anyone’s input.
An hope I’m posting right lol.
Code 62 cannot set from a wiring issue unless there is also a code for a wiring fault. Since you don't have a code for a wiring fault I'm 99.9999% sure you don't have any problems with the wiring.
This code sets when there is slip. You say you don't have slip, but you don't know that. It only takes 50 RPM slip for a second to set the code. Can you really tell that the engine is at 2550 RPM when it should be at 2500 RPM? I can't.
Remove the inspection cover from the transmission bellhousing. Look at the front face of the torque converter. The whole converter should be unpainted steel. Is the front face discolored? It tends to get blued when code 62 sets, due to slippage of the torque converter clutch. If it's discolored you need to replace the torque converter.
I will definitely give that a look, off topic but the wire that is broken appears to be purple I cannot tell the stripe color yet until I clean it really well. Is there a purple wire that goes to the trans harness on passenger side that is purple for the torque converter clutch? Just from different things I’ve been reading shows a pin out of the trans harness connector. I’m sure it is unfortunately the converter it’s self but want to fix an rule everything out before replacement. Thanks again for the tip on checking converter.
If you decide to replace the converter I would highly recommend you also replace the front pump while your in there and install a new seal. It's easy enough once the converters out.
Most times when a converter fails it takes the front pump with it..I wouldn't risk it if I had it all apart
