My external fuel pump that is mounted on the inner frame rail went bad today so I have a cheap eBay fuel pump that I had as a spare mounted right now. I want to mount the new fuel pump on the outside of the frame rail. I was wondering what externally mounted fuel pump would be the most reliable, so that I won’t have to worry about it failing for a while. Thanks, Colby
Most reliable will be the mechanical style that goes on the engine. Any reason why you are not using that?
no,it came with an electric one mounted by the gas tank installed by the previous owner. I will look into a Manuel one. Are certain brands better than other? Because I know a lot of the new parts you get from the parts store don’t always last that long.
For my 81 300 six I got what ever pump Auto Zone had.
Cant remember now who made it or if they had to order it but been working so far to move it around wile building it.

It is important to measure fuel pump pressure output, the parts house replacement pumps are all over the place. A mechanic's vacuum gauge (which you should have already) will measure mechanical pump pressure output as well as engine & carb diagnostics.
