Amazon Buy: Third Brake Light Install

Hi Guys! Here is another video for the archives!

So my third brake light was leaking, a bit melted, and full fo dirt. So I decided to replace it with an LED version I found on Amazon. Enjoy!

If the link does not work, go to YouTube and search, "Replace 3rd Brake Light F150" by The Minute Masters.

I went through this already and used the chrome one which is sold through LMC Amazon and Ebay. I'm not a fan of either of these aftermarket lights and would much rather just have an original third brake light. I just installed LEDs from superbrightleds.com in a nice original lamp assembly I picked up to replace my melted one. I wish a reputable company would reproduce the original light. I also don't think they look better but actually a little ugly. No offense intended, and keep up the videos.

I would have taken a reproduction third brake light over this one any day. I figured I would have been able to find one online easily. I prefer actual bulbs to the built in LEDs. No offense taken. I'm used to seeing the chrome overly LEDed lights. Those are hideous! So I saw this as any improvement. I could be wrong, but with a little time and effort. I think you could combine an old light with a new one. The new one clearly has brackets for light bulbs. You would just have to swap the old lease onto the new housing. Or find a red brake light bulb.

Id just get the OEM rear light and do the superbrightleds.com bulbs, those chineese type lights are junk, circuit boards arent potted in epoxy and arent even sealed, gasket and housing dont seal to the body your asking for leaks. No need to reinvent the wheel.

I would have done that, but the previous owner trashed the OEM housing. From what I can tell he liked to carry ladders and lumber by angling it up over the cab and leaning it on the light and cab roof. I love the LED bulbs I've put in other housings.

I actually started a thread to get anyone interested to help convince Dorman to reproduce this lamp assembly. Hoping enough interest is shown to spark their interest in offering one.

Reminds me that I need to fix the gasket around the cargo light on my '84 F350. Didn't even think about the water getting in there being that big of a deal till I watched the video.

Yeah it's bad! I had to mop it all out several times already and I can already see rust spots forming.
