Are any of you running long tube headers with stock frame, IFS and sbf? I am guessing there is nothing COTS from my searching with custom being the only option however, thought I would ask. Thanks.
I can tell you that Sanderson and Doug's do not answer requests for detailed dimensions of their headers. Other brands may. But if they don't you pretty much have to look closely at the photos or what dimensions they do offer in the description. Or maybe go to some car shows with mid fifty f series and see what they used. I have been doing a lot of searching for Cleveland headers that will work for my set up with no luck so far. But while I was poking around I found out that the LS engine exhaust spacing is very close to the SBF spacing. And there are many, many LS header variations. From block huggers to long tube to fender well they are everywhere. It does not look like a project for the weak of heart or poor welders, but you can cut off the LS flanges, reform the tubes from round to oval and weld up SBF flanges. Hopefully you will find a set of headers out there that will do the job. But if not this might be a plan of last resort type of remedy.
I had long tube headers with a 302 and stock suspension and Frame. Nexhaust. I finished installing the Mustang II front end with power rack and pinion. The long tubes will no longer fit. Now I have to order a block hugger shorts and redo my exaust.
I bought 5 sets of headers with the requirements I wanted: long tube, stainless or steel ceramic coated, 1 3/4 pri. BBK-15690 was the winner. Like it was custom designed for my truck.
