I used an O Reilly’s line, just make sure to tighten down the top side until the Teflon/nylon washer is fully inside the female end of the connection

I put an advance part on my truck after the line broke recently after buying the truck. 2 years later it blew on the highway in the middle of a road trip I had to take an Uber to Napa to buy the hose and fluid take an Uber back and repair on the side of the highway..... cost way more than the ford hose in total....when I have some extra loot the motor craft hose is getting put on. I think it’s less of an issue with size stock tires which I don’t Have. not going for a 3rd blowout surprise repair over here

I had to replace that top hose when I got my parts truck just so I could move it around until I scavenged it. I went cheap on that hose because there was a good price difference and it killed me to have to buy it for that reason. I did notice the difference it quality of the hose section between the two. Whether or not the cheaper one will hold out is the big question and RigCity's story is one I would want to avoid.

I see the auto parts store sells a part with the threaded side and about 3 or 4 inches of metal tubing coming out of it with a flaired end. Is it ok to just buy rubber hose and use hose clamp on that as the other end of the hose just fits over the cooler return with an OEM hose clamp?

It sounds like you're looking at the wrong part, what are you looking to do? Have pics or a link?

I don't think I would trust a clamped on hose to hold almost 1,000psi of hydraulic pressure. What I would do is use the threaded fitting to make an adapter to use with proper hydraulic hose utilizing rebuildable AN/JIC fittings.

The Orange Dot is the line I need to replace.

This is the part autozone carries. I was thinking I could use this with a hose clamp as the other end of the hose would just fit over the cooler end with the oem clamp.

Dont think this is high pressure as the other end just gets clamped to the cooler with an OEM clamp.

Oh that hose. Yeah clamping a hose on is fine.

Your earlier post said its the hose running from the hydroboost to the steering gear though. That one is high pressure. So which is it?

So did your 2019 and trailer get caught by a strong sidewind? I had a similar incident that wrecked my trailer but not the truck thankfully.

First thing that shot shows that your part fits your 2008 model. When I did that line I had to buy the pair, they came hooked together. From steering box to cooler and cooler to pump. If that hose fits your steering box and gets you close to the cooler I guess you could use it by cutting the end off, there is no pressure there.

Edit: OK, now I see what you are aiming to do and my story sort of still stands. I'm guessing that you want to use that fitting and a hose to save a heap of $$$$$ and I'd say you could do it but it won't be like factory.
