can a 1995 ford E4OD 4x4 be converted to 4x2, I know the extension housing is different but not the gasket to it. Is it possible and is the shaft long enough?

The better question to ask is; Can a 4wd E4OD be used in a 2wd truck?
Yes,with a transfer case. You wont have 4wd of course without a front axle but you'll be able to make use of a 4wd trans and have a set of low range gears to use. You'll need the driveshaft from the same 4wd and wheelbased truck or have yours shortened.
You can always bolt in a front axle and drive shaft down the road or even at the same time and have a full 4wd convert too for that matter if your 4wd E4OD parts truck still haves them and the price for a package deal is good.
..........Oh you have an F350.I was thinking F150 for some reason. The full 4wd convert isn't that easy like the F150 but the 4wd trans and t-case info still applies.
