I’m a big fan of the BFG KO2. Had them on my last truck, 2010 F350. They were quiet, road great and was going to last quite awhile based on the mileage I already had on them when I traded it.
I will definitely be putting another set on the new truck.
I went with 295's but in the Toyo Open Country AT2 extreme. I have over 20k miles on them so far and they still look like new. I've towed across country with them and around town daily. The 295's are a little taller than a 35" but a little narrow and have a higher tow rating than the 35. Here is a picture before I did my 1 1/2" level.
Here it is after a small level (taken last week). Still has a little rake but doesn't look like it's sagging when towing. The tires also work pretty good in the snow
Goodyear MT with Kevlar a mud terain tire has excellent wear, low noise, and aggresive tread, is a kevlar belted silicone based tire. I have second set on my 2001Z71. tire bought from discount tire. Look at it on their web site.
tire wears like iron, an excelent tire. I have a Goodyear Dura track on my other nonFord PU. It is as good but not the same tread or tough as the MT. 4 MT tires about $1400 with NoProRated Rplacment certificates. DuraTrack about $1K. I damaged 2 MT tires in 3 years, DisCountTire replaced NO PROBLEMS NO Haggle! XcellentTire&GoodSupplier. If you are for the Tire's LOOKs and not FOR the deep mud way out in the middle of nowhere, GET the Cheap tires!
Cheap, Fast, Good You only GET TWO!
AMX, I think you have one of the better looking trucks on here.
Anyway, OP, Im not 40 but logged enough miles in knobby tired trucks that im in the same boat.
Keeping in mind I have the 5600 mid level front springs; Ive narrowed it down to:
Toyo AT2 in 295/65/20 with 1 inch front lift.
Ridge Grapper in 295/65/20 with 1 inch front lift.
Yokohama G015 in 35x12.50x20
Michelin Defender in 35x12.50x20
Michelin Defender in 285/65/20 (what I think you should really consider heavily as its the same height as a ‘35’).
I had real good luck with Toyo AT2 on my F150 in non-extreme Prating. Super quiet and wore like iron. But I’ve heard the ridge grappler is actually quieter in the 295/65/20 size.
Thanks for your response. It wasn't a typo. Buddy of mine that runs local tire shop said his son put a set of Ridge Grapplers on his F250 and got the same....at around 20,000 miles, he was near bald and needed new tires. I have no idea, that's why I'm asking. That's two people that have told me the same thing. Not too concerned with how aggressive the Terra Grapplers are. I don't take my truck off road. I need them to perform well as highway daily driving tires, not eat up mpg's, and tow well. If I need to switch into 4wd off the asphalt, I'm fine with that. I live in Georgia, so I may see snow once every few years. I just want a good looking all terrain tire that performs as close to the Michelin as I can get on the highway.
One of my son in laws went from the stock Michelin 275x65x20's to BFG KO2's in a 285x65x20 on his stock wheels. The BFG's are only 1/2 taller and a little wider then the stockers. No leveling needed and he runs the truck about a hundred miles a day for his work commute. He's on his second set of the BFG's...first set got 60K miles and still had about 10 to 20K miles left so he gave them to a buddy. I may even try the BFG's on my dually if I can ever wear out the Michelins that are factory 17's with only 20K miles on them.
I got 50,000 miles out my Toyo AT/2s and they still had 6/32 when I pulled them for the winter. If you like the looks they wear great. My 295/65R20 cost me about 1 mpg in fuel mileage over the stock michelins.
I'm currently running the Diesel Brothers Legion tires in 35x12.5r20 They are just as quiet as the Toyos I took off. But a little more aggressive tread. They are made by Cooper Tires.

i believe the KO2 got a bad rap out of the gate because there were more then a few instances of tires not being perfectly round and not being able to rotate/balance correctly. I think out of all the set of tires I have ever had - the original BFGs KOs were a great all around tire. Now it’s just a case of people including myself trying something new or different . I might even go back to KO2 again down the road. I really want to see how those new coooer at hold up. Those sidewalls look great with what looks like road friendly tread.

That's a great looking truck. Same color as mine. How does it drive with that small level on it? Any change to the handling vs stock? I'd like for mine to end up just like this, if it still drives as well.
Thanks guys, hard to see in that snow picture but I also installed the 2WD chin spoiler. Makes the truck look much more aggressive from the front. With the tires, level and spoiler i might have lost 1/2 mpg. Not enough to worry about, in fact it still gets better mileage than my stock F150!

Beautiful truck. If you had to compare the ride to stock with the stock Michelin's on it, how does it ride now vs when you bought it? Any increase, or decrease in ride quality or handling?
They are obviously a little louder but driveability is great. Traction with the LTX tires was terrible on anything but dry pavement, these are much better. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Thanks for all the replies. I'm down to the BFG AT KO2 or the Nitto Terra Grappler at this point, I believe. Both come in the sizes I prefer: 285/65/20 or 295/65/20, and both look really good. Just can't make up my mind on which is the best blend of ride quality, stability and longevity.
