4.6 Starter Shim?
I have a 4.6 from a 03 Crown Vic in a 62 F100 with a T-45 tranny. I haven't put any miles on the truck but have had it running for about 6 month. It sat for a month with a dead battery and after a charge the starter would only click. I removed the starter and took it to the local repair shop and 3 hours later the starter is rebuilt. I install the starter and get the same results. I loosen 2 out of the 3 starter bolts and the engine starts right up. I'm thinking I need to shim this starter which is pretty much unheard of with a Ford. Doesn't appear to be any play in the starter location.
