Maybe someone on here can guide me to right place. Here is my dilemma. I have a 2010 Ford F-350 Harley Edition. I has many cracks in the windshield where rocks have hit it and spread.. I go to many different places online and they quote me 280 bucks on the high side. Then I decide to call safelite and they quote $789.00. I question them about it and they tell me thats why they asked me if it was a Harley edition. When I tell them that there should be no difference between a regular F250 or F350 they cant give me an answer. Their answer is that it could be different dimensions. I was not born yesterday unless Ford decided to create a totally different truck with the Harley edition. I tell them its the exact truck with different badging and harley touches. But the truck is the same. There is nothing on my windshield that isn't on your common F250 or F350. Can anyone enlighten me please? Or are these idiots trying to gouge me because I have a special edition truck. Which is what I think is going on here.
Tasca Fords parts page list the windshield for the King Ranch being a little over 450 even before shipping, and a regular truck 210. Must be some major difference.
It could be acoustic glass. Do you have rain sensing wipers? There are quite a few options for windshields these days. That doesn't mean you have to put that exact glass back in but they are probably justified in the extra cost based on options.
There were 7 considerations in our decision to forego calibration and OEM.
1. 90% of our driving is towing. The system is disabled when doing this.
2. The shop/technician that is doing the install doesn't think its necessary and offers it only if you insist.
3. If the windshields are this fragile, then this is going to be a recurring problem, an expensive one.
4. We lived without all these bells and whistles before this truck.
5. Its expensive.
6. It appears that we can always back up and reconsider calibration if necessary.
7. And finally, Part of me feels that this is just another way to extract the maximum revenue without doing much.
Well post an outcome after the install.
Regards and best wishes

The cheaper windshields are a aftermarket and will have no badging or shading on the upper part of the window, the Ford windshield will look just like what it can with when new. When my 2013 was new my windshield was hit by a rock and cracked about 2 feet across the bottom, a new Ford windshield was 780 and a aftermarket was something like 350 but it didn't say Supper Duty and it wasn't shaded. The truck was new so it got a Ford windshield but now I would go with a aftermarket and save the money.
The 05 and probably up, does have a special windshield. If you look at the dots around the windshield they’re not just regular dots they’re actually HD shields.
