caught a rock
It is already snaking down and across. Has anyone had to replace
a windshield in their SD truck yet? I want to go with oem. What is the
approx cost? I know it will vary and I do have comp. insurance. I
just wanted an idea what I can expect.
Thanks, EJ
I have since seen some stores which offer $299 installs on S/D's, but price wouldn't be my deciding factor. I would go my the reputation of the company. Some installers will also offer 30 repair or replacement if you get another rock chip. I have 2 rock chips I have to get repaired on my wife's truck this upcoming week also.

Same thing happened to a guy at work. He only wanted the original windshield with the SD on it. He found it at www.fordpartsnetwork.com just fill in the info and search under collision, there is a sub-category at the bottom for windshields. I'm sure you'll find your way, just remember there are like 4 sub-categories to go under after you select windshields before it will actually display. You are look for the windshield for after 11-4-02 if you have a 2003 or newer. Hope this helps. FYI he had it shipped to the glass company instead of him. The way it worked with his insurance was he paid for it, and thm reimbursed him.
Best of Luck,
Corey

*Parts Changers*That's exactly what I want. I will notify my glass company if they can't
get an exact match. $202.00 is not a bad price. I do not have a deductable,
but if this is the only way I can get an oem glass, I will pay for the glass myself.
EJ
Most glass companies will pricematch or do whatever they have to do to get what you request so ordering it from somewhere else might be a waste of your time and then it will not be guaranteed if it breaks during installation or stress breaks later on. Although if your area doesnt have some good competition with the glass companies you may have a problem getting a good deal, which then you might get a printout of that website and take it in with you to the glass shop.
When you get your windshield replaced, you will probably get a better job done if you take it to their shop where two people are working on it since these are such big trucks and most mobile installers work solo. I dont know what companies you have in your area but companies such as Glass America, Guardian, Triumph, Biswanger, Glass Doctor/Harmon usually have great service - and Safelite has a nationwide reputation for poor quality.
