Hey Guys. This is my first time posting here and I have a brain stumper. I have a 2000 f350 with a 7.3 powerstroke. I have been having trouble getting it to start if it is less that 40 deg outside. I ordered a new set of glow plugs, valve cover gaskets, gasket harness connectors and glow plug relay. When replacing the connector ends i clipped and spliced one wire at a time so I didn't get any wires crossed. After everything was put back together and the batteries were reconnected the truck wouldn't start. It cranked and only sputtered. I rechecked the wiring from the main 42 pin harness connector to each pin at the valve cover harnesses and all was correct. I performed an injector buzz test and none injectors on the drivers side "buzzed". I checked with an ohm meter and all are shorted. Basically had anyone heard of this happening? I would hate to drop in 4 new injectors just to fry them again. Thanks for any input.
Check the IDM and make sure you didn't cross any wires when resoldering. In the years I've been working on 7.3 trucks, I've never resoldered the harness plugs and haven't had a problem.

Thanks for the reply, but the injector coils are actually shorted to ground and my main question was why would that happen. I have already checked the plug wiring with an engine wiring diagram and everything is wired correctly.
Dorman, also no access IDS. I have ordered new injectors but before I install them, I will check all my injector signals with a noid light before installing new injectors. If I get a good signal on each and none of the noid lights fry i will put in the new injectors and hope for the best. Thanks for the reply.

No problem, is it the two piece? Or one piece harness?
I ask because even though the one piece harness eliminates the need for the 50 cent mod, it has been proven to cause electrical issues with the injectors. You can get the Motorcraft UVCH or one similar with the two piece off rock auto.
The injector high side circuit is shorted to ground? Did you smash the wiring in between the cylinder head and the valve cover and rip the insulation? That would do it. Or if it got in the way of dancing valvetrain components due to poor routing, that could maybe cause it as well.
EDIT: Side note, did shorting the injectors not toast your IDM?
