I'm in the process of doing a top end on my 73 F250's 360 FE. Im going to install a Crane Cam 343901, and a new timing chain set up. My question is what exact set up I need. Brand name and part number. There is a whole bunch to choose from and I understand I need to match it up with the cam.
You'll need valve springs too. the cam you want has more lift and your old stock springs are shot. Crane can tell you what you need.
You may be able to get springs that will fit or you may have to machine the heads for positive seals to accept them. if you use heavy singles be sure to check for coil bind.
Don't forget to check your lifter preload as well you may need new pushrods. Smith Bros can get them out the next day.
