2 degree cam timing advance.

I am about to replace the front cover gaskets due to my coolant leak and figured I would throw a timing chain and gear set at it while I was in there since it does have 120,000 miles on it. I want to bump the cam timing up 2 degrees but the only timing chain sets I can find are 4 degree. If any one has done this what gear and chain set did you use? I guess I could go with a gear drive but there really is no need for all that on my pig truck.

Never mind, I found the answer to my question elsewhere. Man the advanced cam timing made this thing a HOSS! This is a must mod!

What timing set did you end up using?

Sounds like an ignition curve box was used. I have one, and advance the timing from the cab.

Cam timing and ignition timing are two completely different things.

I cant believe I didnt think about it when I was looking for one but the cam angle is half of what the crank is so when you advance the crank by four degrees you are only advancing the cam by two. Any timing set with three key way slots will work. Advancing will add some serious low end grunt! At least it did with mine.
