Now I’m getting a 1991 camper FI 460 with an E4OD attached that has 95k on it for just $350. Harness, computer and all.
I watched a video of a guy that had done this swap and it seems like there’s a lot involved to make this E4OD work.
Alternatively, if I just bolt the 460 to my C6, it’s almost plug and play. Looks like the kick down is the only real problem.
So I have two options as I see it.
1. Drop in 460 and start driving “now.”
a. Save the E4OD for a later install project
2. Sell the E4OD and recoup all my cost.
If you are doing the whole swap to efi, I would keep it. I really liked the E4OD we had in our truck. Having overdrive is great. Add a Punisher valvebody and the E4 is a great trans.
It is a big girl. It is several inches longer than a C6 and would require some fabrication and adaptation, but whether or not it is worth it is up to you.
Harness, computer, and all are included in the deal? Keep the transmission. You'll love the overdrive with that big engine. It was based on the C6 and was used behind Diesels so it can handle some torque.
Your np203 transfer case will bolt right up but I’ve heard warning that hanging that much weight off the end of the E4OD can break the tail housing and the 203 should be supported with a second cross member.
you have the whole package so I’d say keep the E4OD.
