Can any body tell me if I can change the shifting on my 2000 F550. I would like to make it a faster shift. It seems like now it is taking forever to shift. Long soft shift.
I don't care if it is a little harder. Just don't like the way it feels.
I have a laptop set up with forscan and I see there is a setting for shift percent or something like that.
Is that how to do it? Change the percent?
Not sure if you can do it that way but you can also accomplish it by chipping and/or tuning it. I had the same truck with a few performance mods and a SCT installed and it was a beast with the 4:88 gear. However, a regular SCT for a F250/F350 will not work on it because of the puter, so it requires a special chip. I think I sent in one of my extra SCT tuners to them and they reset it to work.
You can modify your valve body (e.g. Sonnax, TransGo, etc.) or buy a modified valve body to do it mechanically. You can also get custom tuning (which will require a chip) to do it electronically. That's about it AFAIK.
