I have a TS with Gear*ead tunes. They are fine, just would like to have them all keep the TC locked when the brake is on and slowing down. Kind of
a pain to have to ship back and forth. Switch on the dash is really clean looking.
Looked at the Hydra and I think that little switcher looks tacky, glued to the dash.. BUT I sure like idea of being able to flash it myself.
Anything in between? I am not sure I need 15 programs or some big screen. Even though having the ability to monitor some other parameters might be nice too..
Hydra is the best option IMO. Nothing better period. They used to have a bluetooth enabled component (don't recall the name) that would allow you to change/mange tunes through your mobile device but they discontinued that which is really too bad. I would love to have that just for the ability to enable "no start", but removing the tune selector box would be a plus too although, being able to switch tunes with a button push on the fly works very well. At any rate, being able to get tunes from multiple suppliers and toggle between them is a very nice feature.
Hydra for the ability to load tunes myself and try ones from other people. I have tunes on my Hydra from 2 different people and can switch between to see what is different.
I stuck with the velcro-to-the-dash so I can remove it and tuck the ribbon into the dash for my smog check.

Not AFAIK. 6-position chip and Hydra is it (DP Tuner has some similar options). And you said you don't need a big screen so the canned tunes from the bigger guys (Edge, Bully Dog, etc.) are out to.
For monitoring parameters many of us do that via BT/Wi-Fi from the OBDII port with an adapter and appropriate APPs on our phones/tablets.
The cyclops for hydra is the blue tooth controller. I didn't like the switcher or cord showing. App on my phone is how it's controlled. Takes about 8 to 10 seconds to connect which is irritating but Hydra control is out of sight. Didn't realize it was discontinued so guess I got lucky.
Not sure why Hydra (or whoever came up with that ****ty design for a switcher) didn't try a little harder, it's janky as F. That being said, the ability to just connect your computer to update tunes is CLUTCH.
You also don't have to glue the switch to the dash, you can leave the cord behind the dash and just pull it out to change tunes when you feel.
I change tunes about once a month so this isn't a big deal for me.

My Hydra is my only anti theft device so I switch to no start every time I park the truck. That's also why I wanted it out of sight. Unless they know how to pull the chip they will have to tow it away if they want it.

I'm insured... I'd be happy as a pig in **** if someone stole this headache!
