I have been searching for how to adjust my parking brake, and have found how to do the adjustment with the star wheel. So I now have the pads adjusted correctly, but my foot pedal still goes to the floor. Now the odd part if I release the brakes and reapply them the pedal goes down about half way and holds tight.
I haven't anything in searching about this type of parking brake issues. Has anyone else experienced this?
Check the e-brake shoe anchor pins. If they pull through the backing plates the shoes and hardware float around and get ground up. It will also show up as the erratic ebrake pedal level you are describing.
Always put your foot on the ebrake pedal when releasing the brake to allow the pedal ease the brake off versus letting it snap back on the bump stop.
Check your cables too.... only use OEM motorcraft for cables. I bought Dorman and they didn't work for ****, truck would roll on a slight incline, parking brake to the floor. Simply switching to Motorcraft cables fixed the problem, which I think was excessive length.
