I pushed in my emergency brake yesterday and something snapped and the pedal stuck to the floor... Now the pedal is stuck to the floor and will not move. I'm thinking the cable might have snapped since the brake is not currently engaged. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with the pedal? Visually it is hard to see anything wrong...
That happened on my 2000 a couple weeks ago. It was the cable. If you reach in behind the computer there is a little lever. Push down on brake pedal while pulling on the lever with 1 finger (which is all you can get into the tight spot) and you can release the brake for a temporary fix.
On ford trucks, I quit using the e-brakes after the vehicle was three years old, and NEVER used them in the winter. I always broke something in them in the winter and then over three years old, it seems like the cables at the rear wheels were always rusted solid, and wouldn't budge.
It turns out the pedal was an easy fix too. I just had to pull on the brake release while pulling up on the pedal. I'm such an idiot sometimes... LOL
Hey man, it happens, we all do silly stuff... just the other day i changed the oil in my car... emptied, re-filled, checked the level then looked down at the new oil filter i had bought but had forgotten to install...
If you do the repairs yourself, make sure you take pics and do a little write-up if you have time.
