My new Ex

My new Ex
Everybody else was posting up their new toys, so I guess I might as well too
Purchased just after Christmas, here's my 05 EB Ex 6.0 PSD.
Looks really clean under here!
Well, except for here.
So, this is where I say things are great, but this pic shows otherwise.
Ouch
I pulled the EGR valve and it was sooty, but not grimy or steam cleaned. The truck had 115k when I bought it and I've put just over a 1000 miles on it now. I guess my question is, should I go straight to a new EOC, or do a flush and see what the numbers look like then? I'm only doing short drives for the next few months, but the Ex needs to be ready for a road trip back east at the end of April.
I really appreciate all the info and knowledge that's provided on these forums.

Welcome to FTE! If it were mine, I'd probably do a flush and see where that gets you. And a coolant filter. I have one on mine and after the first filter change (following a full flush), I poured the coolant from the filter through a coffee filter and got about a tablespoon of sand just from pouring it out. I'm sure if I'd cut the filter, there would be a lot more in there. I'd probably have a oil cooler on the back burner just in case.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
