Mystery Box in dash 77 F150

Just wanting to know if anyone would be familiar with the box I'm going to describe. It's a little black box about the size of a pack of smokes. It's located behind the dash below the headlight/wiper switches.... behind the lower metal part of the dash. The wires going into the box lead into the wrapped bunch of wires for the rest of the dash.

I was installing a switch for a DC outlet and happened to notice the box. Couldn't figure out what it might go to.

I'm pretty sure it goes with the delay wipers. I put the delay wipers in mine about 25 years ago and there was a separate box on the side that I had to connect with it.

Ahhh… okay. I wound have thought the delay to be part of the switch... but yeah I could see it being separate. Thanks.

RedFordRob,
You prompted my thinking back 35 years when I owned my 79 F-100, I installed an after market wiper delay and it was just as you described cigarette pack size black plastic box with wires. Ordered back in 1984 from JC Whitney and it worked perfect up till the day I sold the trucks.

Rich,
You're showing the OEM wiper delay module. The aftermarket one that I had from JC Whitney had an actual dial for wiper action sweep intervals.

This is the intermittent wiper governor for 1978/79 F100/350 & Bronco: D8TZ-17C476-A marked with ID number: D8TB-17C476-AA

1973/77 F100/350 uses a different intermittent wiper governor, so the part and ID numbers are different.

D3TZ-17C476-A (replaced D1ZZ-17C476-A) .. Intermittent Wiper Governor / Obsolete

1971/72 Mustang/Cougar / 1973/77 F100/350.
