Re-use a 300 6cyl from a '94,

I assume the '94 uses a PCM to run the fuel injection, how many sensors does the PCM need to make it run right?

Any hiccups (aside from physical connections) to expect since I want to put it in an older truck (1985 F150 2WD Auto C6) maybe the older C6 will need to be replaced with a more modern one?

thanks

Pretty sure with a 94 engine and EFI, you'll want the entire engine and powertrain harness, headlight harness, cab wiring, psom, pcm, fuel pumps, regulator, maybe even the cluster as well. Pretty much need a parts truck to put fuel injection in a 85

thanks, I only found an engine (complete) and it was $75 so I thought I would be well on my way but pulling all the wiring and the dash in the cab wasn't what I was thinking, I'm sure I would have my hands full with just getting the engine and trans in... I would give it a try if the perfect parts truck was dropped off in my driveway for sure! hehe

What engine is in the ‘85? Why not just use the long block?

Looking for EFI, the '85 has a super emissions dressed carbureted 351 H.O. that I am not confident I can keep running reliably in all seasons & all types of weather... for example it has a hot-flood won't start that I have been chasing for 6 months.

How about a standalone MegaSquirt / Microsquirt? Cut up the donor harness, pare it down to the minimums and let 'er rip! You can leave all your factory chassis harness stuff in place and just let the EFI system be separate. You'll have to add a high pressure fuel system with either swap you're proposing...

MegaSquirt sounds interesting, esp. since I have no aspirations to make this rig high performance, no prices on the website, I sent them an email.

Check DIYAutotune or EFI Source. They are third party vendors of assembled megasquirt systems. There are others as well.
