As you can see I am in the process of patching things up... was wondering if anyone can confirm if the circled holes are from the factory... if so to what purpose? These seem to be punched out as opposed to stamped or drilled. There are other holes of this nature that are original but those are threaded for the sheet metal screws that mount the steering column. Don’t think these are original but thought I’d ask. Thanks!
I have the same on my 1978 F100, I believe they are to hold the firewall insulation in place. My other theory is that it is for the rubber floor covering to hold that in place.
Think the rubber floor mat essentially just sits in place, slips under a couple of tabs at its top and the door lip trim strips are screwed down over it on the sides. Nothing through the firewall.
