Transmission issues

I have a 2001 f350 with a v10 with around 150k now. I took off from a stop last night and the truck shifted hard into 3rd, and misses and almost dies, throwing the check engine light and flashing the overdrive light. It's done this twice before but not as bad, on those occasions I shut the truck off for about 5 minutes and it was fine on start up. I know this is common but there are more problems also. This time it continued missing and had a huge loss of power, like it was in a limp mode or something. Runs fine in park but when you drop it in gear it begins to miss. I have a real cheap scanner that will check and clear codes and it gave me
P0743- torque converter solenoid
P0755- shift solenoid b malfunction
P1747- transmission pressure control short circuit
only thing done to the truck is banks headers, everything else is stock. Any ideas?

I would say the converter is not coming out of lockup. Check ALL elec connections (plugs) to trans for corrosion.

I would say your biggest problem is the engine miss. Get that taken care of and then look at the transmission. Quite often fixing the engine issues clears up the transmission issues.

I dont believe the miss is a part of the problem, only because it still runs fine in park as it did before, only starts to miss with a load on it now that the lights are on. I will add that I went to check the trans fluid, so I started it to let it warm up and it now has a wine that I could only describe as it sounds like youre spinning a socket on a ratchet around 1000 rpms. If that makes since haha.

You won't feel an engine miss in park. You need a load on the engine for a miss to be a problem. Fix the engine before wasting time and money on the trans when most likely there is nothing wrong with the trans. On the other hand, it's your truck. I can only give advice, I can't make you follow it.

One of the codes is for a short circuit.
Vehicle has Banks headers.
I would do a thorough search for burnt wiring in the header/transmission area.

You are probably right but as Jake says,it banged into 3d when the problem last occurred,my thinking is it went into lockup shortly after take off, detected a converter clutch slip and went to full line pressure causing the bang. Lockup at low speed will cause a lugging deal that might misinterpreted as a miss. If I was to guess,I would say the converter clutch solenoid is bad or going bad as Jake says this has been intermittent. I would check the motor over first, however, but the spark plugs on those older V10's.......

There's nothing wrong with the spark plugs on those older V10s.
Hopefully, the OP has changed the plugs at least once in 150k and torqued them to 25-28ft/lbs.
Even if the plugs have been changed were the boots ever changed?
At 150k if the boots are OEM that's the first thing I would look into for the misfire, the coils should be fine.

I wasn't saying you were wrong by any means, only stating my though because I just figured the hard shift was from the trans bumping line pressure because the 1-2 shift was a bit firm as well and it was running normal before hand. I understand what you're saying though. As for the spark plugs, they were all replaced when the headers were installed as well as boots and coils. All of that was done 20k ish ago.
