"Sorry if I offend, but anyone who pays anything near MSRP for any brand of 1/2 ton is a fool."
I'll certainly agree with you there! Sorry Ford but near $50k for an F-150 XLT is just insane! I don't know where you live but the most I've heard of is about $7-8K off that same truck where I live in western PA. And that my friend is why I bought a used truck! LOL
I noticed those trucks in that ad you pasted are all 2wd's with the base 3.3 V6. Is that a common configuration where you live? Here in Pittsburgh everything is 4x4 for the snow, so naturally has the more powerful motors. And even XLT's are getting hard to find here because everybody seems to want the luxury trucks. Dealers are starting to stock more Lariat and Platinum models than the XLT or even STX models. At least at the larger dealers closer to the city. The dealers further out away from the city or into neighboring states tend to have the more modestly priced stuff. I know when I bought my '12 F-150 3 years ago I drove nearly 2 hours to buy it because all the used F-150's were all over-priced for their mileage and condition. Some had higher mileage and weren't in as good of condition as mine, but still being the same XL work truck configuration; dealsers were asking $2-3k more for them. And I should note that dealers here do NOT negotiate on used vehicles. The price you see is the price you pay. You don't like it, there's another fool right behind you who will pay it; and they know it.

The trucks in the $20k's will be 3.3 V6's and 2wd. But the trucks in the $30k's will be 2.7 EB or even 5.0 V8. Some in the upper $30k's are 4x4.
If you noticed, there is an F-250 STX 4x4 gasser for $39k. If you melted this truck down, you could build two Rangers. So much for Ranger value.
PS - I just bought a 2019 Escape S stripper for 38% off MSRP (MSRP $25,100, I paid $15,700). If you are patient and are willing to shop around 30% + off trucks is possible.
Not sure about your areas but, I saw the Ranger commercial on TV last night for the first time. Good commercial that will hopefully help sell some trucks.
Correct me if I am wrong, what I see, the Ranger is priced right along side the F150, so why buy the Ranger? Am I missing something or is just my area.

I think that size is the issue. Many people just do not want a truck as big as the F-150. Many reasons for that.

I know a couple of die hard Ranger owners who were disappointed at what Ford launched because it so much bigger and over priced from what they were expecting. Local Ford dealer has 10 in stock, start at 32K up to 45k.
Are you seeing any incentives, discounts, to get them out on the road?

Here in Dallas/Fort Worth, there is a $1000 loyalty rebate, but no other rebates.
The local dealer who gave me a screaming deal on my Escape is taking $2300 off one of his Lariats. Everything else is $500 off. Plus the royalty rebate.
Sort of funny, because the local Lincoln dealer is taking $4500 off Navigators (I know, drop in the bucket for a $85k truck), but the Navigator is supposed to be the hottest thing going for Ford.
