Or just plain black steel .Just wondering what everyone prefers.Likes, dislikes wish you would have chosen something different ?Any feed back on headers purchased from ebay or other suppliers as far as quality?
I chose Sanderson headers with the silver heat coating
(kinda looks like chrome).
Sanderson headers don't use gaskets at the cylinder head - just a light coating of high temp silicone. Use the copper gaskets at the collectors for a leak free system.
Good product - I highly recommend them.
Hope this helps

Hello, my project came with sanderson blockhugger headers. I had them blasted and ceramic coated silver colored. Look good and more budget friendly for me than other options. Larry
I'm happy with my Sanderson ceramic coated headers, same set as Dan is running on his, My pickup and kept the stock cast iron manifolds, sandblasted them and sprayed them with VHT primer and top coat and they still look good to after 2 years and 13,000 kilometers

I have run the engine for the break in period and driven the truck up and down the block about 10 times. But, I can't really answer beyond that. Sanderson warns you about breaking in the headers, but so far no discolorization.
They should be easy to care for - at least I hope so !!!
Thanks John.I have a set of just plain steel shorty's that i sandblasted and painted a year or so ago but the paint didn't stick very well and will need to be repainted.I may just use those and put that money towards getting the exhaust done. Thanks
If you paint them with the VHT there is a procedure for curing the paint so be sure to read the label, it's a heat and cool process. I painted my whole exhaust system on the pickup and the paint is still very good
I have painted steel headers on my Mustang and the paint didn’t last long at all. My next build I am going with ceramic coated I think. The unpainted headers look shabby when I open the hood. For the Mustang at this point it’s not a concern but I do notice it.
